Dear Friend I have joined the broad coalition of solar, wind and renewable energy providers, environmental organizations, business, labor and taxpayers in opposition to Proposition 7 on the November ballot in California. This poorly written measure will significantly increase electric bills for consumers and will result in less, not more, renewable energy. So many respected organizations (http://www.noprop7.com/whoopposes7.html) all oppose Prop. 7 because it will: - Slam the brakes on renewable power development in California; - Force small wind and solar companies out of the market via a COMPETITION ELIMINATION provision that excludes renewable plants that produce less than 30 megawatts from counting towards renewable power targets; - Force consumers to pay 10% above market for renewable energy, artificially increase the cost of power and increase electric bills by hundreds of millions of dollars per year. - California leads the nation with tough, clean energy standards that require utilities to use significantly more renewable power. Prop. 7 will jeopardize this progress and disrupt renewable power development.
